1958 Corvette on the Suncoast Original Car Artwork

The rich digital colors I’ve mixed and painted are modeled after the factory colors available in the years depicted. My design strategy is to draw accurate details, create reflections and shadows in the paint, chrome and glass finishes that will exceed what normally a camera will capture. The artistic backgrounds are often simplified bringing viewer focus to the automobiles.

1958 Corvette on the Suncoast Original Car Artwork

I spotted this beauty at a Corvette show near me on the Suncoast of Florida several years ago.  After talking to the older gentleman owner from New York State, I asked if I could take some photos of this 1958 Aqua Blue Corvette for my future painting reference. Well, all has worked out nicely for this hand crafted painting which is a closeup study of the over the top chrome bright work and Aqua paint job. This was not a quick artwork considering the many reflections within its finishes. It was a real brain teaser when creating.
